Criteria for Qualification for Highway 67 Music Awards

To submit your band for an application to the Awards Committee, you must email your interest to admin@highway67.net.  Please refer to the qualification criteria stated below before emailing us.

All bands who wish to enter must email to request an application form from Highway 67 at admin@highway67.net

All bands, should they qualify, will then get a submission form sent via email which needs to be returned (via email) to admin@highway67.net The submission form will consist of two parts. Part A for public vote categories and Part B for panel vote categories.

Submissions for public vote categories (Part A) will be accepted from today and close the 31st July.

Public voting will take place from 1st August – 30th September on a dedicated Music Awards website.

Submissions for panel categories (Part B) will be accepted from today and will close the 31st August 2010.

All recorded material must be received by Highway 67 before or on the 31st August 2010.

Criteria for qualification:

All members must be over 18

Bands must be deemed as a completely original unsigned band (which consists of at least 8 original songs)

The band must have played in an IMRO registered venue since October 1st 2009

All qualifying acts must be from the Louth/Monaghan/Meath area.

Only one person can be nominated at a time for the public vote categories. For example where a person plays guitar and sings he/she can only nominate themselves for one category.

In the event where a person is active in more than one band that person can only commit themselves to one band.

A person can not be submitted to the awards committee more than once.

Unfortunately if there are two guitarists in the band only one person can be nominated.

Where bands are no longer in existence:

They must have played a gig in an IMRO registered venue since January 2010.

To submit recorded material the band must submit an agreement by each member of the band allowing the awards committee to accept the recorded submission.

The band entries will be accepted however they can not compete in the Best Band, Best Singer/Songwriter or Best Metal Band Categories.

Public Vote Categories:

Best Singer/Front Man/Woman

Best Guitarist

Best Bassist

Best Drummer

Best Keyboard/Piano

Best Band: if this is chosen the band is immediately omitted from ‘Best singer songwriter’ and ‘Best Metal band’ Categories.

Best Singer/Songwriter : this can encompass a maximum of 2 people, if this is chosen the person/persons are immediately omitted from ‘Best band’ and ‘Best Metal band’ Categories.

Best Metal Band: if this is chosen the band is immediately omitted from ‘Best band’ and ‘Best singer song writer’ Categories.

‘Highway67 Presents’ Award

Best Young Act (voted on by H67 & nominated adjudicators at the Mayhem gigs) this will be announced prior to the event and will not be on the public vote or panel vote.

Fan Favourite Award (voted on at our H67 gigs. all scores are tallied up and the band with the most votes will be announced on the night.

Best Album

Best EP/Single

Best Song

Best Video

For ep/album and best song submission:

Entries for this category must have been released between the dates 1st January 2009 – 31st August 2010. However it may not be entered if it was submitted to the 2009 Music Awards.

The submissions for best ep must be sent into highway67 on a CD format (5 copies). Also the submissions for best album must be sent into highway 67 on a CD format (5 copies). If the submission for best song is not on the EP or album then it must be on a separate cd ( 5 copies). The name of the band must be on each submission.

If the band does not have 5 original versions of their EP/Album The band can burn copies of their recording but must attach a track list. Each recorded submission must be in a cd case. (the 2 submission will be given directly to the 5 judges of the awards panel and will not be returned). Please note that the judges may take in the overall packaging and presentation into account and we advise to maximise scoring that you include original packaging and artwork.

Best Video Submission:

Best video must be uploaded on youtube and the URL will be put on the submission form.

Note:
If there is insufficient interest in certain categories Highway 67 reserve the right to remove this category from the Awards

The Awards Panel are made up of 5 individuals who do not have a direct connection to the Dundalk Music Scene or to Highway67. They are people who feature heavily in the Irish Music Scene and are experienced in music writing, performance, promotion and media.  They will receive the submitted material and will mark each submission against a criterion. The marks will be tallied up and the winner will be enclosed in a sealed envelope which will not be opened until the night of the awards on the 9th of October.

The Public Voting website, although designed and hosted by Highway67 will not be controlled by highway67.  The access codes will be passed to an independent adjudicator who will access the results of the voting after the last day of the public vote and will place the winners in a sealed envelope which will be opened for the first time at the awards ceremony on the 9th of October.
